Sweet baby girl,
You turn 6 months old today and I'm absolutely amazed at how much you've grown. Not just in size (although you have gotten much bigger), but mentally what you are capable of. You are so aware of your surroundings and are very curious. You've started to grab at everything. You're turning into a little person with likes, dislikes and a temperament.
You still love to play with your hands and feet, but now you're even interested in all these toys we have around the house. You love your jumper and your walker. There's a little stuffed giraffe you always hang on to. And anything with noises and lights capture your attention.
Last week you got your first tooth accompanied with a little fussiness. It was the second tooth yesterday that really got to you. You cried most of the evening. I mean, really cried. Not your normal frustrated or hungry cries. This was big ol' crocodile tears, red face, very upset. It rattled your dad and I because you just don't cry like that. And we can usually calm you when you do cry; last night nothing we did helped until we got you to sleep. You didn't sleep for very long at a time which is unusual. You normally sleep from 9p - 5:30a; and we appreciate that. But we understand why you couldn't sleep; I'd be angry if a tooth were pushing its way through my gum too.
You're also sitting up really well on your own now. You actually prefer to sit up and look around rather than lay down. It's so cute when you sit up and look like a big girl. I have been a little sad lately realizing that you are no longer my little newborn. You're growing and learning everyday, which is perfect, but makes me long for the last phase a little.
One thing that hasn't changed in the last 3 months is your love for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Actually, while I'm sitting here typing this letter you are enthralled with Mickey and the gang. We love to start up a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show because you get the biggest smile on your face when Mickey starts walking up the path.
I cannot wait for what the next 3 months will bring. You're close to rolling over (although you hate being on your tummy still), you've been saying "ma-ma-ma" a lot the past few days, and you're ready to move around. I suppose crawling isn't too far off in the future!
Little girl, I can't even express how in love with you I am. I want to spend all my time with you. There are so many places and things I want to experience with you. I can't wait until the warmer weather sticks around for a bit so we can enjoy the outside. You'll become very familiar with the canal! Your Daddy and I love the canal; it's very special to us, so I hope it will be that way for you too.
I love you much,
Mommy
