away too long!

AH! How did I let over 2 months go by without posting? Well, that's easy. It's been absolutely insane around our house lately. September turned into the "Month of Claire". I spent all my free time preparing for her big birthday bash.

For example, I made this banner with a picture of each of the first 12 months:

And I made her birthday picture tutu:

Which ultimately was destroyed by cupcake goo. And this brings me to Claire's long-awaited (by me) 1st birthday pictures. You know how you see those absolutely adorable pictures of 1 year olds eating their first cake and smiling with pure delight? I was on a mission to make that happen. I failed miserably.

We met with the photographer near the Monon and the Indianapolis Arts Center. Not realizing it was Jazz Fest - so our options were limited. And Claire decided she was going to have a God-awful day. She cried through everything - especially when we put her down on her own. She just wanted to be held and cuddled that day. Striking a pose was not on her to-do list.  We did end up with some cute pics...

These were taken at The Flying Cupcake on Illinois Street in Indy. Thanks to them for letting Claire destroy a couple of cupcakes for some picture fun.

The pictures do not represent how horrible the whole thing was - she looks super cute and happy in these pictures, I just realized. After we left The Flying Cupcake, Ryan and I both had to take some Advil and call it a day. We were spent.

On Claire's actual birthday Ryan and I decided we were spending the entire day with her. We had SO much fun going to the Indianapolis Zoo. We bought a family pass as her birthday present. It turned out to be a beautiful day to spend outside.

And then the very next Saturday was her birthday party. I went a little overboard, I admit. But it was totally worth it...for me. Claire didn't care about most of it, which was fine. We did get some good cake pictures though!

So this was our September. It was all about Claire and we loved every minute of it! (Well, the photo session not so much.)
