As some people know, I drive around Central Indiana quite a bit for my job. Usually I'm driving through rain or snow or in heavy traffic. I've driven these routes so many times over the past 3 years that I sometimes find myself on "autopilot" - you know, when you're driving, but your mind is in like 17 different places. This past Monday though, I found myself really connecting with my surroundings. It was such a beautiful day, there was little traffic on the road, and it just felt peaceful. I was so enamored with the sky that I took out my phone and snapped a picture (no worries, I was stopped at a stop light).
I complain about my drive to/from work, so I know this probably sounds contradictory, but it's a completely different experience. On the way into work, or on my way home, traffic is horrendous and it's not necessarily a sightseeing trip. When I'm on the road for work, I get to take country roads through beautiful farmland and small towns with cool little shops. This is when I feel at ease. My mind can wonder, which is why I probably feel like I'm on autopilot a lot. I'm blessed to have a job where I get to travel to different areas throughout Central Indiana. It's days like Monday that help me remember the small blessings that really make me happy.
